Minoltacord

Made by Chiyoda Kogaku ,Japan; c1953.  Promar SIII 75mm f3.5 lens in Citizen shutter, B 1-1/300th.  6x6cm pictures on 120 film. Front mounted rapid lever focusing. Side mounted lever film winding. The shutter was separately lever cocked on the front of the camera. The lower focusing levers on these often broke (or were frozen in place) when the focusing helical grease got thick. Once broken these levers are pretty much not repairable. Be sure to test the focus lever before buying one of these. The Promar lens was a nice quality four-element Tessar type taking lens, made by Asahi Kōgaku, (which became Pentax). They were only a lens manufacturer at this time. It was the standard lens on many early Minolta cameras. Wide open it will take slightly soft pictures. When slightly stopped down it takes nice sharp photographs.
